The screen designing and printing is a course that leads students to become familiar with screen printing through varied hands-on activities involving many different methods and processes. Ingenuity and originality will come as more experience is gained and as the student become more conscious of printing and lettering styles which are adaptable to the job at hand and to screen production. Students will utilize a wide range of materials and processes ranging from hand-cut stencils to photographic screen production. Some of the activities will include the printing of bumper stickers, posters, portfolios and T-shirts, all ranging from single colors to multi-color printings.
The main objectives are to:
- Create awareness of how the communicated word is produced
- Originate and make projects for personal use as well as for business
- Understand the relationship with industries and the world of work
- Reinforcement of reading and math’s skills
This programme especially benefit youths who have creative talents and are keen to make their talents visible. They will be trained how to initiate computer aided printing motives using graphic software such as Photoshop, Corel draw etc., colour codes and combination, final printing on banners, signboards, T-shirts, caps, bags and any other printable materials. The training lasts for a period of 24 months after which participants are awarded diploma certificates in designing and printing technology. The students are also encouraged to start their own printing enterprises.
The first few outstanding candidates in this faculty have the opportunity to remain attached to YRA`s screen printing department since the department is currently understaffed due to rarity of the profession in Sierra Leone.

Requirements
- The trainees enrolling for this course should have attained WASSCE level (SSS III) with a pass in mathematics and English or at least be able to read and write well. Student must be a Sierra Leonean youth between 18 and 35 years
